“… blessings enable us to perceive the ways the sacred inhabits the ordinary, impressing upon us that every moment and each place lies within the circle of God’s care.”
– Jan Richardson
The year ends, another begins;
but the weariness has sunk into the bones; weight gathers weight, sighs deepen, eyes and hearts yearn for light.
This blessing is for that weight,
those sighs,
those searching eyes and hearts.
This blessing asks to crawl in beside, offering the promise that Dawn will appear – a pinprick of Light in the darkness.

It is already there, the Light:
and this blessing will bear us on,
urging us to remember:
“Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made…
through him all things were made …”
We are one with this Light,
weariness, sighs, and all.
Remember:
carry this with you,
this blessing for the turn of the year.
